Where is the bookstore located?

The bookstore is located in the Banks Student Life Center.

What are the store hours during semester starts and college weekends?

The bookstore hours for the first two weeks of classes are:
	Monday - Thursday	8:30 am ­8 pm
	Friday	8:30 am ­4:30 pm
Weekend College dates: First Weekend College dates:
	Saturday and Sunday	9 am ­3 pm
Regular Weekend College dates:
	Saturday and Sunday	11am ­2 pm

How do I find the right textbooks?

Textbooks are arranged alphabetically by course and number ­be sure to bring your class schedule with you. There is usually a staff member who will be glad to assist you.

Is it better to buy the books now or wait until I go to class?

Because of last minute changes in scheduling or new instructor requests, we encourage students to go to class first. The instructor will tell you what textbooks will be needed.

Should I buy new or used textbooks?

Buying used books will save you money; they generally cost 25% less than new books. Just make certain you are buying the edition being used in the class. Also, when you are finished with the book, you can often sell it back to the bookstore, which saves more money.

What if I buy the wrong books?

Keep your receipts and don’t write anything until you have attended the class. Unmarked books with receipts can be returned within the first two weeks of classes, fall and spring. (In the summer, returns must be made the first week.) The return policy is prominently displayed in the bookstore.

Can I use an older edition of the textbook that is required?

The bookstore cannot make this determination. The faculty member is the only person who knows if the new information is necessary to the course work.

What is “textbook buy back”?

The bookstore buys back used textbooks from students during finals week of the fall and spring semesters. The books we buy back for the store will be resold to other students as used books. We also buy back for a wholesaler at their listed prices. About 50,000 titles are listed, and the average price is 25% off the new price.

When are textbooks returned to the publishers?

The bookstore starts returning textbooks six weeks into the semester. Faculty are sent notices asking them to make announcements to their classes that the return of textbooks will begin at the end of that designated month.

What do I need to cash a check?

With a photo ID or Misericordia University ID card, you can cash personal or payroll checks up to $20.00.

What forms of payment does the bookstore accept?

We accept cash, checks (made out to the bookstore), MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. Student charge forms must be obtained from Student Accounts or Student Financial Services offices.

Does the bookstore accept credit cards over the telephone?

The bookstore does accept credit card numbers over the telephone.

Can I mail order textbooks?

The bookstore will mail textbooks to any student as long as they remit a check for the amount of purchase plus postage.

Do you carry the school supplies I need?

We stock a full line of supplies: writing instruments, spiral notebooks, paper and notepads (many available in recycled paper), and diskettes.

Do you carry specialized supplies?

We carry graph paper, dissection and nursing kits, chemistry lab supplies, specific lab notebooks, and more.

I’m hungry for a snack between classes. What can I do?

The bookstore carries cold drinks, hoagies, chips, popcorn, candy and crackers. We are now offering free coffee to students.

Other than textbooks, what does the bookstore offer?

Almost everything you need is right here on campus at the bookstore! Gifts and cards, health and beauty aids, sportswear, gift items in glass and porcelain, pennants and decals, novelty items, and class rings. And when you graduate, we are your source for commencement apparel.

Does the bookstore have special sales?

The bookstore holds two sales every year, graduation and Christmas. The sales are always during exam weeks, at which time the store offers a 20% discount on clothing and gift merchandise.

How can I purchase my class ring?

There are two days set aside each semester when the ring company comes to the campus to take orders. If a student cannot make any of these dates, the bookstore manager is always available to assist you in ordering your ring.

Can I purchase a gift certificate for textbooks?

Yes. A gift certificate can be purchased in any amount for any merchandise carried by the bookstore.
