The University observes these holidays:
New Year's Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Day following Christmas
(Time off between Christmas Day and New Year's Day is scheduled on an annual basis by the President.)
New Year's Eve
*One Personal Day (provided on a fiscal year basis)
* The Personal Day is to be taken during the fiscal year with supervisory approval. If it is not used, it is forfeited.
Religious holidays, other than those listed, can be granted at the discretion of the supervisor. This time can be paid or unpaid. If an employee elects to be paid for this time, they must use a vacation or personal day. To be eligible for holiday pay, you must work the holiday, the day before and the day after the holiday if you are scheduled to work these days. Should you be unable to work any of these days because of illness, satisfactory proof of illness will be required in order to qualify for the paid holiday.
All full time employees are eligible for holiday pay upon their hire date. For employees who are scheduled to and work the holiday, see the Overtime/Compensatory Time policy. Holiday pay is not granted to employees on an unpaid leave of absence.
When a paid holiday falls on Saturday, the Friday before is observed. If the holiday falls on Sunday, the Monday following is observed. Holidays that fall within paid sick leave or scheduled vacation time are recorded and paid as holidays.Revised 10-11-02
