Gradual clinical education experience coinciding with didactic instruction, the student will demonstrate competence in:
Performance of radiographic procedures at a professional level without requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
Performance of a variety of professional procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
Assumption of responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
Adheres to the ARRT/ASRT Code of Ethics.
Positions and transfers patients.
Provides immobilization devices as required.
Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Develops film by automatic processing (if applicable), or digitally.
Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
Assists physician in administering contrast media.
Assumes responsibility for delegated areas in the performance of routine or special procedures.
Assists in performing first aid as necessary.
Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination.
Practices standard precautions as established by the Centers for Disease Control, (CDC), Atlanta
Maintains adequate records as directed.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
Secures and returns supplies.
Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
Rotates within the department or other departments in accordance with scheduled clinical education hours.
Maintains ethical relationships.
Adheres to program policies and procedures as described in the Medical Imaging Clinical Education Manual and Student Handbook.
May be required to assist in the development of technical factors and image receptor selection.
May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught.
Ability to cooperate with other workers and supervisory personnel.
Ability to follow and carry out instructions from physicians to which they are assigned.
Ability to deal amiably and effectively with patients
