Entry-Level DPT

The physical therapy program is a 6-1/2 year professional program resulting in a bachelor’s degree and a doctor of physical therapy (DPT) degree. During the first 3-1/2 years, the student completes the requirements for a bachelor’s degree in an area of the student’s choice.

The student enters the professional curriculum in the spring semester of the fourth year. The professional curriculum includes eight semesters.

Students accepted into the pre-DPT program as freshmen are guaranteed progression into the DPT program, as long as academic criteria are met. There is no need to re-apply for the graduate phase of the program.


Acceptance and matriculation rate:

  • For 2009, 273 applications were received for freshman admission; 134 of those students were accepted and 65 enrolled in the freshman class.

 

Graduation rate:

  • Eight-five to ninety percent of students beginning the professional phase of the curriculum graduate within 150% of the normal program length.

 

Employment rate:

  • Ninety-nine percent of graduates are employed in the field of Physical Therapy within six months of graduation.

 

Pass rate on licensing examination:

  • The program’s 3 year ultimate pass rate for 2005-2007 on the National Physical Therapist Examination (NPTE) is 95.2%.
