Clubs, Scholarships and Honors

The Physical Therapy Club is a college club under the auspices of the Dean of Students. Membership is open to all physical therapy students at Misericordia University. The club participates in on and off-campus activities, especially those dealing with the needs of individuals who are physically challenged.

Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society
is a coeducational society whose purpose is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Membership in Alpha Chi recognizes previous accomplishments and provides opportunity for continued growth and service. Alpha Chi seeks to find ways to assist students in "making scholarship effective for good."

April 24, 2009
Twelve students were inducted into the Pennsylvania Omicron Chapter of Alpha Chi at Misericordia University on Friday, April 24, 2009.

Alexis Hause,PT,DPT, Misericordia University alumnus,Physical Therapist for the Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 and Clinical Faculty for the PT in Developing Countries course in Georgetown, Guyana, served as the Guest Speaker.

Dr. Susan Barker and Dr. Maureen Pascal served as faculty sponsors.

Physical Therapy majors in the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes and who demonstrate exemplary character are invited to membership in Alpha Chi.

There are three Physical Therapy Departmental Awards:

The Outstanding Physical Therapy Student Award is given to a graduating student who demonstrates exemplary potential for success in the profession.

The Physical Therapy Student Achievement Award is given to a graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding abilities to successfully complete the physical therapy curriculum in the face of unique life experiences.

The Catherine Perry Wilkinson Leadership Award is given to a graduating student who demonstrates exemplary potential for leadership in the profession.
