Wells Fargo Foundation provides scholarship support to students|

The Wells Fargo Foundation has awarded a $35,000 grant to Misericordia University for the 2014-15 academic year in support of the Wells Fargo Foundation Scholarship Fund that benefits financially deserving and academically eligible undergraduate students at Misericordia. The grant allows the university to grow the number of low- and moderate-income students who receive financial aid at a time when more families are finding it increasingly difficult to cover the cost of tuition.
The Wells Fargo Foundation Scholarship Fund helped to make a college degree more affordable and accessible for 16 Misericordia University undergraduate students in eight majors during the 2013-14 academic year. About 99 percent of students at Misericordia receive some form of financial aid to finance their college education.
To address the growing need for financial aid, Misericordia University seeks the support of new and traditional sources of scholarship funding such as the Wells Fargo Foundation. The Wells Fargo Foundation Scholarship Fund is a financial lifeline for many students as it helps them pursue their academic dreams and professional aspirations.
“The Wells Fargo Foundation’s support allows us to meet our mission of serving students who would not have the opportunity for a college education were it not for the generous scholarship packages they receive here,’’ said Thomas J. Botzman, Ph.D., president of Misericordia University. “Misericordia has traditionally had a mission of serving students of lesser economic means, many of whom are first-generation college students whose families want to provide them with a college education, but are dependent upon significant financial assistance. We are very thankful for Wells Fargo supporting our mission and for helping our students realize their dreams.’’
