Workshop
Friday, November 21, 2008 Marjorie Scaffa, Ph.D., OTR, FAOTA presented a workshop for OT students and Fieldwork Educators entitled, "Occupational Therapy in 2017: Emerging Practice Opportunities".

Entry Level Master's Program

The Occupational Therapy Program has a proud tradition of producing highly qualified, technically proficient occupational therapy practitioners since 1984. In 1997, the first class of Professional Entry Level Master's degree students graduated, marking the completion of an educational transition that began in 1992. The College offers a five year master's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Students accepted into the Program participate in an educational process that prepares them to become entry level occupational therapy practitioners while instilling an understanding for, and a desire to achieve, the skills of scientific inquiry and critical reasoning.

There are two tracks offered by the Occupational Therapy Program: the traditional and weekend tracks. Student who have graduated from high school may apply for the traditional program. This is a 5 year (2 semesters per year) program. A student with a baccalaureate degree in another discipline or an associates degree with certification as an occupational therapy assistant (COTA) may apply to the weekend program. This program meets on alternating weekends (year round) for three years.

The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), 4720 Montgomery Ave. Bethesda, Maryland. (301) 652-6611

Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the examination given by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
