Overview

The Master of Business Administration program will address the ethical, moral, and philosophical issues related to management and business leadership in a direct and meaningful approach. The program is uniquely designed to intertwine a traditional MBA curriculum with "soft skills" and will cover "the human side of management." The program goals and objectives reflect an emphasis on critical thinking, practice-based creation and interpretation of business data, and comprehensive decision making that considers all information available and all aspects of the impact of decisions.

Learners who complete the program will gain additional and practical expertise in their profession while engaging in intellectual discourse with peers and experts that will prepare the participants to be the leaders of dialog in the business world.

Curriculum

The program consists of thirty-six (36) credit hours of study which can be completed on a part-time basis. Students must complete a core curriculum of twenty-four (24) credits and a specialization area of twelve (12) credits.

Online Delivery

Online Program Delivery

Misericordia University offers, in addition to the face-to-face evening program, a predominantly online MBA program for the following specializations: Accounting, Management, Health Care Management, and Human Resources Management. Some special conditions will apply to the on-line such as visitation requirements and on-line mandatory participation in discussions with business and academic leaders on contemporary issues and topics in business.

Misericordia University uses Blackboard as the platform for distance education. Blackboard may be used as an additional component in some courses or as the primary delivery method for online courses within the MBA program. Training is available on how to use this Internet tool.

* A student having the educational or experiential background that would result in the student not benefiting from an MBA common core course may request a substitution of another MBA elective for the respective course. The request has to be made in writing to the program director and documentation for experiential background is required.

** Students specializing in Accounting will take the Integrative MBA Capstone Experience - MBA 650 in place of Accounting and Finance for Business Leaders - MBA 507.

  • MBA 620 - Accounting Theory
  • MBA 622 - Advanced Auditing
  • MBA 624 - Advanced Taxation: Corporations, Partnerships, Estates and Trusts

Students will also take a 3-credit free elective MBA-coded course provided that it is not an MBA core course and that all necessary pre-requisites are fulfilled.

Healthcare Management (9 credits)

  • MBA 549 - Healthcare Leadership & Management

Students will select two from the following:

  • MBA 602 - Global Health

(Note: Students specializing in Healthcare Management will take the Integrative MBA Integrative Capstone Experience - MBA 650 in place of an elective.)


Human Resource Management (9 credits)

  • MBA 552 - Regulations of Human Resource Management
  • MBA 557 - Performance, Compensation, and Reward Systems
  • MBA 558 - Employee Relations and Services

(Note: Students specializing in Human Resource Management will take the Integrative MBA Integrative Capstone Experience - MBA 650 in place of an elective.)
