4+1 BS IN PSYCHOLOGY AND MS IN ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
The Department of Psychology now has a 4+1 program of study that will allow students to complete a BS in Psychology and an MS in Organizational Management (MSOM) in 5 full years. This option will be particularly attractive to students interested in the intersection between business and psychology and in pursuing professional opportunities aligned with those interests (for example in human resources, marketing, or management).
Students choosing this program will declare their intent to enroll at the end of their junior year. A 2.97 cumulative GPA is required, and students are not required to submit GRE scores. Once approved by the Business Department, students enroll in four OM courses as free electives (12 credits) during their senior year*. Following completion of the BS in Psychology in four years, students meeting the following criteria will be automatically accepted into the MSOM program: 1) a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, and 2) a 3.0 grade point average in the OM core courses they have taken as undergraduates. Completion of the MSOM program will then require an additional (5th) year of full-time study.
*The “core” OM courses Psychology students will take during their senior year will be selected from the following list:
- OM 500- Organizational Behavior
- OM 509- Financial Management
- OM 515- Research Methods
- OM 530- Legal Aspects of Administration
- OM 538- Perspectives in Management
- OM 545- Introduction to Human Resources
- OM 551- Organizational Communication
