Misericordia University is hosting the Glow Big or Glow Home 5K Family Fun Run on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. The family-friendly event will highlight the second annual MURoar924 Giving Day, a series of activities on Sept. 22-24 in which Misericordia will celebrate its founding on Sept. 24, 1924 by asking for 924 donors to the Misericordia Fund annual campaign. Gifts of all sizes are welcome to meet the challenge of logging in 924 donors between July 1 and midnight Sept. 24. Proceeds from the run benefit the MURoar924 fundraising effort and go directly to support the restoration of the university's iconic entrance archway.
Built in the 1930s, the brick and terra cotta arch is undergoing extensive reconstruction and emergency repairs. Restoration efforts began in July and are expected to last through October.
Cost of the Glow Big Glow Home 5K Family Fun Run is $30 for ages 18 and older, and $15 for children ages 5-17. The cost is $25 for Misericordia students and alumni. Refreshments will be available following the race, along with music provided by Cougar Radio, until 10 p.m. The race begins and ends in Rosenn Plaza, adjacent to the Wells Fargo Amphitheater, in the center of campus. Registration opens at 6:30 p.m.
Competitors receive glow sticks at registration. The top male and female competitors will receive prizes. Chris Wadas, head coach of the Cougar cross country and men's and women's track and field teams, will oversee race timing.
