Alternate Traffic Patterns in the Dallas Area and Entering Campus

Due to roadway construction in Dallas Borough, Lake Street at the intersection of Route 415 and Main Street will be closed to all traffic traveling North. Local traffic only will be allowed to travel South from Center Hill Road. Motorists can expect detours and delays while traveling to Misericordia University.

The following alternative routes are suggested:

From locations South (Wilkes-Barre City, Kingston, etc.) – Follow detour signs North to the intersection of Center Hill Road (Leggio’s Restaurant will be on your right); make a right turn onto Center Hill Rd., go straight until you reach the four way stop sign at Lake Street; turn left – Main Arch entrance to campus is presently closed; use Townhouse Road and/or the North Gate to enter campus

Second alternative route from locations South – Bear to the right and remain on Route 309 North near the Dallas Shopping Center (Advance Auto, Fuel-On will be on your left); continue on Route 309 North to the light at the intersection of Center Hill Road; make a left turn on Center Hill Road; travel straight to the four way stop sign intersection at Lake Street; turn right - Main Arch entrance to campus is presently closed; use Townhouse Road and/or the North Gate to enter campus.

From locations North

(Route 309 from Tunkhannock area) – make a right turn at the intersection of Center Hill Road; travel straight to the four way stop sign intersection at Lake Street; turn right - Main Arch entrance to campus is presently closed; use Townhouse Road and/or the North Gate to enter campus.

(Route 415 from Harveys Lake area) – make a left turn onto Center Hill Rd., go straight until you reach the four way stop sign at Lake Street; turn left – Main Arch entrance to campus is presently closed; use Townhouse Road and/or the North Gate to enter campus.

The accordions below represent the usual navigation to campus. Please disregard and amend any planned routes involving traveling on Lake Street.

Important Changes to On-Campus Traffic Patterns Effective 8/10/17

Effective Thursday August 10, 2017, the following traffic pattern changes will effect entry and exit to campus:

Arch Entrance - Closed until completion of restoration project
North Gate Entrance - Use standard traffic pattern for entry and exit. There will be no traffic permitted beyond the Science Building upper lot. Pay close attention to the roadway directional signs in this area.
Townhouse Road - will be temporarily converted to a two-way traffic pattern, allowing entry to Mercy Hall (Founders Circle - visitors only), Mercy Hall employee parking lot, Mercy Center, and other upper campus areas. Please note that this is the only access to Mercy Hall parking. Follow posted signs to navigate through this area.
Baggot Street (Campus Safety, McAuley/Walsh Circle) - Traffic in this area will flow in the opposite direction as customary. Parking will still be allowed in the posted areas on the LEFT side of the roadway. At the intersection of Baggot St. and Misericordia Way (facing the Science Building), motorists will be able to turn left to exit or reach residence halls, upper campus buildings and lots; or, turn right to reach Mercy Center, find limited additional parking along Misericordia Way, or exit back through Townhouse Road. Directional signs will be posted in this area. Do not travel towards the Arch restoration project, there is no means of exit at this point.

Thank you for you cooperation. Questions can be directed to the Campus Safety Desk at 570-674-6300.
Stay tuned for updates or changes.
