Summer Orientation

The Summer 2017 Orientation single-day dates are the following:

  • June 29th
  • June 30th
  • July 20th
  • July 21th
  • July 22th

For first year students who have paid their reservation deposit for the Fall 2017 semester, you will need to choose your orientation date, download health forms, access housing information and provide input on your first-year schedule on the student portal. The mandatory 4-day orientation dates are August 24th - 27th

2016 Orientation Coordinators

Mike Gombita is a junior communications major and a second-time Orientation Coordinator from Equinunk, PA. Since his first year at MU, Mike has dove in to many extra-curricular activities. His main role on campus is being a part of MCN87 Misericorida's college television station and serves as producer of their television show. Mike is also a radio personality on the college radio station Cougar Radio where you can see him on his radio show and calling sports events such as basketball and football. He is a reporter for the newspaper, The Highlander. He also serves as President of the marketing club, Service By Design. Outside of student media, Mike serves as President and COO of the philanthropic organization, Students Today, Alumni Forever. He also serves as a public relations coordinator of the Autism Speak U on campus. He is also a Peer Advocate and has played intramural soccer at Misericordia. Back at home, he has served as a volunteer coach of the youth basketball program for nine years. He has also held a variety of jobs ever since he was able to work from owning an ice cream stand of his own, to hosting game shows! Mike has also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres's show in her segment, "Epic or Fail?” Mike’s biggest accomplishment so far was in the Spring of 2016 where he had the honor of playing with the world famous Harlem Globetrotters in a contest he won for their 90 year anniversary.


Bailee Hymers is a junior occupational therapy major from East Meredith, New York. This year will be her first time as an orientation coordinator after having been an orientation leader last year. Bailee is involved on campus with MSOTA, Campus Ministry and Autism Speaks. She is also secretary of OTI and a SEARCH team leader. Bailee enjoys volunteering and serving others whenever she can. Within the past year she has gone on service trips to Maïssade, Haiti, Lakeland, FL, and Georgetown, Guyana. For the past two years Bailee has worked as a mentor to individuals with special needs but currently she works at the Mercy Center nursing home. In her free time Bailee loves to spend time with her friends and family, travel, and enjoy nature.

Alec Rodway is a sophomore Computer Science and Mathematics major from Peckville, Pennsylvania. This is his first year as an orientation coordinator. Alec is a varsity member and starter for the Men’s Basketball and Tennis team here at Misericordia. He is a member of the Computer Science and Mathematics club, IT association club, and a student representative of Students Today Alumni Forever. In what little spare time he has, Alec enjoys socializing with her friends on campus.

Special Pre-Orientation Opportunity

Join SOAR on an adventure unlike any other! Before Orientation, we are offering three options for outdoor adventures led by our trained student leaders! Join us Sunday, July 30th thru Wednesday, August 2nd to get a Misericordia adventure in, meet new students, and meet some upperclass students!

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! All Levels welcome! As with all of SOAR adventures, all of our programs are open to participants of every level from no experience to very experienced.


We are offering three such adventures this year, The dates of the adventures are SUNDAY JULY 30TH - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2ND!

The three adventure options:

  • Pinchot Trail: Backpack 23 miles of the Pennsylvanian woods and learn some essential woodsy skills! Jump in a water hole to cool down and get psyched for some trailside yoga! Best.Backpacking.Adventure.Ever!
  • Delaware Paddle: Canoe down 45 miles of the Delaware River and see the Gap up close! Camp on river islands, see some bald eagles, and hop in the river to cool down! Get psyched!
  • PA Rock Climbing: Join us and head rock climbing locally here around Misericordia! We hit local crags, go over basics of rock climbing, and get a day of bouldering in as well! Featuring a camp out at Rickets Glen state park (with a dunk at the lake), what could be better?!
