Program Faculty and Staff
The Department Chair , Sheryl E. Goss, MS, RT(R)(S), RDMS, RDCS, RVT, FSDMS has 30+ years of experience in the profession. She has performed a variety of sonographic studies to include general sonography, vascular and both adult and pediatric echocardiography as well as supervised a busy department for several years of her career. She remains actively involved in both local and national professional groups and professional accreditation organizations. She was a member of the National Education Curriculum Taskforce, the first curriculum to be designed to include all ultrasound specialties. She served as Chair and Editor-in-chief for the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) National Certification Examination Review series. Currently she serves as President for the SDMS Board of Directors and SDMS Foundation and serves as the Past-Chair for the Joint Review Committee for Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Board of Directors.
In 2012, Sheryl earned Fellow status, the highest membership status awarded by the SDMS and in 2013 she was the recipient of the Distinguished Educator's Award.
Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Karen Klimas, MS, RT(R), RDMS has 20+ years experience in the profession. She has worked in both the hospital and outpatient settings with experience in abdominal and OB/GYN. Her career provided for specialization in the OB/GYN arena. She is a member of both local and national professional societies. Karen manages all simulated laboratory and clinical education requirements of the certificate program. She is also an adjunct instructor for Cross-Sectional Anatomy and Interventional Sonography courses in the certificate program.
Lisa Allen, BS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT is the Ultrasound Coordinator for a large perinatology practice with a specialization in fetal echocardiography. She is an instructor in the Advanced Fetal and Pediatric Sonography Course.
Bethany Francis, MS, RDMS, RVT is a clinical sonographer for an out-patient imaging center. She teaches the Pelvic Sonography course.
Amanda George, BSDMS, RDMS, RVT is the lead sonographer for Children's Medical Center in Washington D.C. She is a co-instructor for the Advanced Fetal and Pediatric Sonography course.
Maria Menta, BS, RT, RDMS, RVT is a clinical sonographers with specialization in general and vascular sonography. Maria is the lab instructor for Introduction to Sonography lab course, abdominal labs and vascular lab.
Jessica Tornambe,MS, RT(R), RDMS is employed as a clinical sonographer in a general sonography department. She is a simulated lab instructor for the certificate level students.
Aubrey Verdekal, BSRT(R), RDMS, RVT is employed as a clinical sonographer in an out-patient imaging center. She is a simulated lab instructor for the certificate level students as well as instructor for the Pelvic Sonography Lab course.
