McAuley Market Drive -- All Week Long  (Open to Public) 
  • Donations can be dropped off at the Banks Student Life Center, Rooms 112, 115, & 119 I 8:30am - 4:30pm

Items Needed:

Conversations for Change: A Fireside Chat with Emerald Garner  (Open to Public)

  • Location: Lemmond Theater

Join us as we host Emerald Garner, daughter of the late Eric Garner, for a fireside chat discussing her book Finding My Voice. Through her experience, we shall talk about the story of family and community, and the strength it takes to survive, to stand, to speak.

Charism Conversations: Justice  (MU Community Only)

The ongoing Mission Orientations examine the four charisms of the Sisters of Mercy: Mercy, Service, Justice, and Hospitality. Members of our faculty, staff, and students will illustrate lived experiences of our mission in motion across campus and beyond

Blankets & Broth – MLK DAY OF SERVICE (MU Community Only)

  • Location: Insalaco Hall 218 & 219
  • Time: 11-1:30 pm

Volunteers will be assembling blankets to be donated to Ruth's Place, Keystone Mission, and Sara's Table. Cans of soup/broth will also be collected for those in need. Students can sign up to volunteer via Presence.

Film Screening: RUSTIN (2023) - (MU Community Only)

  • Location: Lemmond Theater
  • Time: 7 PM

Bayard Rustin, advisor to Martin Luther King Jr., dedicates his life to the quest for racial equality, human rights and worldwide democracy. However, as an openly gay Black man, he is all but erased from the civil rights movement he helped build.

Wednesday, January 22nd

Voices of Strength: A Panel on the Black Male Experience (MU Community Only)

  • Location: McGowan Room
  • Time: 12:20-1:10 PM

Have a chance to meet the members of Misericordia’s Black Male Initiative group, United Black Brothers (UBB). Discussing the experience of black male students on campus, debunking myths and misconceptions, and providing tips on how to be an ally for students on/off campus.

Men’s Basketball Honorary MLK Game (Open to Public)

  • Location: Anderson Center
  • Time: 7 PM

The Diversity in Athletics Committee and the Men’s Basketball team host the annual honorary MLK Game in supporting the unity of our campus community and our athletic teams.

Thursday, January 23rd

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Dinner  (MU Community Only)

The Inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards are set to celebrate the students, faculty, administration, and staff who continuously support the initiatives that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived and fought for. These awards shine a light on all individuals in our community who embody and exemplify the characteristics promoted by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.—"a vision of peace, persistence in purpose, and inspirational action."

Friday, January 24th

CommUNITY Brunch (MU Community Only)

  • Location: Archie’s Lounge
  • Time: 10:30 - 12 PM
