Special Announcement from the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Education
Welcome to CHSE during this very interesting time of our lives! We, as a college community - administration, faculty, and staff, are here to support all students both virtually and face-to-face. Please know that if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
I opened up a chat time for students via Zoom on Fridays from 3- 4 p.m. Students will need to contact Teri Pace at tpace@misericordia.edu to reserve a spot and can indicate if the they would like a private meeting or would like to meet as a group. Further information will be available shortly and CHSE majors can watch their email for additional details.

Welcome to the College of Health Sciences and Education!
The College of Health Sciences and Education (CHSE) is dedicated to the education of future and post-professional health care practitioners and educators through both traditional and graduate programs, certificates, and flexible alternative education options.
It is our goal to provide each and every student, undergraduate or graduate, full or part time, commuter, online, or resident, with a stellar education that will enable him/her/hir to fulfill their professional and personal goals. The College works as an inter-professional unit and encourages faculty and students to work with and learn from each other in different programs in our College as well as with those in the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Business. We strive to provide opportunities for all students to become well rounded citizens, thoroughly supported through their journey by extraordinary faculty who are engaged in quantitative and qualitative research, international partnerships, and service aligned to the mission and Charisms of Misericordia.

We graduate the largest number of health science professionals in Northeastern Pennsylvania constituting the majority of practitioners/clinicians. We offer a rich education through clinical and fieldwork experiences, service-learning, interprofessional engagement and research endeavors. Our students can experience international service and research as a component of their education.
With over 100 publications and presentations, our faculty are nationally and internationally recognized and have the excellence to assist in guiding students through their education. Likewise our faculty and student run clinics assist students in learning their discipline while providing services to the community. Our centers and clinics include the Autism Center and Speech-Language Hearing Center.

The Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography provides a complimentary balance between sonography education courses and liberal arts courses to enhance ones intellect, spirituality, creativity, and a global perspective on world culture.

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Program at Misericordia University is rooted in the Charisms set forth by Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy to provide and promote mercy, service, justice, and hospitality.
As one of the founding programs, Misericordia University's Nursing Department has been educating students in the field of nursing and serving the healthcare needs of the community for over 90 years. Misericordia continues this tradition today by offering a wide variety of programs and a seamless transition allowing students to progress from the undergraduate to graduate, and finally, the doctoral level.
The mission of the Occupational Therapy Department at Misericordia University is to provide an educational environment that reflects values and attitudes of justice, mercy, service, hospitality, and dignity in order to promote development of highly skilled professionals who are culturally competent, ethical, innovative, responsible, and involved occupational therapists serving diverse communities
Misericordia University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree program provides an education that produces physical therapy practitioners who are critical thinkers, educated consumers of research, and advocates for life long learning.
As an entry level professional post-baccalaureate program, the physical therapy curriculum reflects a commitment to the complementary relationship between liberal arts and professional studies that enables graduates to adapt and deal with constantly evolving societal and professional needs.

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation - Provisional status to the Misericordia University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Misericordia University. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

The Speech-Language Pathology Program at Misericordia University is an entry-level 5-year Masters Degree program that provides an educational experience that produces pathologists who are critical thinkers and educated consumers of research.
The Bachelor of Science in Health Science is designed as a program to develop a broad understanding of health care and wellness and enhance critical thinking and an understanding of current health care trends and issues that impact health science professionals in a diverse society.
The Teacher Education Department is one of the University’s oldest departments. Many of the original students who entered College Misericordia in 1924 became teachers. Since then, Misericordia University has prepared thousands of excellent teachers for our nation's classrooms.
The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree program prepares students for professional practice with a curriculum that integrates theory with practical experience in a Social Welfare Agency. Graduates are eligible for licensing in Pennsylvania and many other states. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredits the social work program. Students who want to earn a Master in Social Work (MSW) may be eligible for advanced standing in many graduate schools of social work throughout the United States.
