April 21 to May 31, 2023 | Reception: Thursday, April 27, 5:30pm

The Pauly Friedman Art Gallery at Misericordia University will exhibit “Indian Folk Art: Mona Pande” from April 21 to May 31, 2023. This exhibition, featuring local artist Mona Pande, will be held in conjunction with National Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month, annually celebrated in May. Self-taught in painting and other Indian traditions, Pande is a rostered Folk Artist with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Pande has a Master’s Degree in Biology from Agra University and conveys her love of nature and living things in her bright colors and patterns. Through her work as president of Indo-American Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania and through her community art workshops for organizations around the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, Pande has demonstrated her passion for community based cultural education. This exhibition is held in conjunction with Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage month and is co-sponsored by the office of Mission Integration and Institutional Diversity.
