Service To Others

"Adopt-a-Grandparent" at Mercy Center:
Students visit and provide a social gathering for residents at both of these locations. Some favorite activities include doing crafts and playing games!

"Adopt-A-Veteran" at the VA Medical Center:
Students volunteer providing social and recreational activities for veterans including BINGO and wheelchair basketball.

Blue Chip Farm a non-profit no-kill animal shelter in Dallas, PA:
Students will be engaged in helping with any physical tasks they may need such as: outdoor work, cleaning cages, walking, grooming, and feeding animals.

Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Farm in Harvey's Lake: Students will work on the farm weeding, harvesting, spinning wool, making hats for homeless people and working in the gardens.

Habitat for Humanity of the Wyoming Valley:
This service project allows students the opportunity to help build homes for low income families with local Habitat chapters.

Hospitality Ministry:
Students assist in the planning and coordination of hospitality events sponsored by Campus Ministry.

Kids on Campus/Women with Children Program:
Once a week students plan creative activities and games here on campus with the children from our Women with Children Program.

Serendipity Therapeutic Riding Program:
Is a therapeutic horseback riding and equine facilitated learning program designed to assist individuals with special needs find an increased independence through the help of our equine partners. Volunteers are trained under the PATH International Safety Guidelines and are used as side walkers for riders.

St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen:
Students assist at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre PA, by serving meals or working in the clothing bank.

Starry Knights:
Students tutor/mentor at an after-school program at Noxen Elementary.

St. Joseph's Center in Scranton:
Works with children with severe disabilities. The Daycare center, located in Dunmore operates during the week till 6pm. The ages range from infant to nine years old. This ministry takes place during the week in the afternoon.

Food pantry:
Student volunteers will help with the on campus food pantry once a month and volunteer at the local Back Mt. food pantry.
