The play is adapted from Christie's book, "And Then There Were None," which has sales of more than 1 million copies and is considered to be the author's most noteworthy masterpiece. Turning down offers from other experienced playwrights, Christie chose to adapt her own book for the stage. The play opened at St. James' Theater in the West End of London in November 1943. A Broadway production opened at the Broadhurst Theater in 1944 under the title, "Ten Little Indians."
The dark and captivating story involves a group of 10 strangers who are stranded on a remote island off the coast of England. Upon arrival, the guests discover that their host, an eccentric millionaire, is missing. One by one the guests begin to die, and the remaining characters vie to discover the murderer among them.
