Funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the Center for Nursing History of Northeastern Pennsylvania was founded at Misericordia University in 2005. The Center serves as a unique repository of regional nursing history through artifacts, documents, photographs, textiles, and more. The Center is dedicated to advancing scholarship and research by bringing the history of nursing and nursing education in the greater Wyoming Valley to life through teaching, exhibitions, sponsored events, and digital media.

The Center for Nursing History collection is a special collection held in the Sister Mary Carmel McGarigle University Archives in the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library. The collection serves to acquire and provide access to personal histories that document the experiences of nurses and the history of the nursing profession in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
