MSN-DNP Nursing Education

Misericordia Nurse Educator program

Influence the next generation of nurses.

As a nurse, you’ve learned so much from so many people. Through experience and continuous hard work, you’ve gained a number of skills that aren’t readily available right out of school. That type of knowledge would be of great benefit to up-and-coming nurses — adding to their ability to offer improved patient care.

If you’d like to prepare to become a nursing educator at the college level, Misericordia’s online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program offers an optional nine-credit specialization in nursing education.

Seamless Progression to
Your Next Degree

We can prepare you to prepare others.

When you specialize your MSN-DNP in nursing education, you’ll be part of a practice-based, leadership-focused program designed to prepare faculty to teach in nursing education programs.

As a student, you’ll be taught, mentored, and supported by some of the nation’s brightest nursing minds — educators with real-world clinical experience and notable teaching backgrounds. When you graduate, you’ll have the skills and education to become one yourself.

Specialize in nursing education, and you’ll be prepared to:
  • Teach in universities, technical schools, and hospital-based nursing programs
  • Ensure that nurses have the knowledge they need to properly care for patients across the lifespan
  • Plan and develop curriculum and then evaluate outcomes
  • Serve as a mentor and advise students based on their academic and career goals
  • Actively create new and innovative ways to approach nurse education

Find Your Career

Our targeted plan to get you there.

Our online MSN-DNP with a concentration in nursing education is a part-time program designed to be completed in two years. The 36-credit track includes fall, spring, and summer classes that span six semesters.

You’re eligible to apply for this program if you’re one of the following:

  • Nationally board-certified with unencumbered RN and APRN licenses, including:
    • Certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP)
    • Certified nurse midwife (CNM)
    • Certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA)
    • Certified clinical nurse specialist (CNS)

Due to the integrated nature of the DNP program coursework, no doctoral-level transfer courses will be accepted.
