Who is this program designed for?

Students interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy, and other professional services. Many students interested in the DPT (doctoral physical therapy) program, major in Health Care Administration as their undergraduate degree.
Students interested in health care delivery as a professional or manager, health care practitioners who are employed, or have been trained in an allied health profession.
Individuals employed as: surgical technologists, dental hygienists, emergency medical technicians, radiology technicians, respiratory technologists, or in any business related profession are examples of individuals who would be good candidates for this program.

What is Healthcare Administration?

Healthcare Administration (HCA) is a multidisciplinary course of study with courses in the liberal arts, business administration, and health sciences. In general, HCA students are prepared to work in many types of health care organizations.

ARCH Accelerated Degree Program

You can earn your Bachelor of Science in as little as 2 1/2 years by attending classes part-time. The convenient and predictable schedule allows you take classes either once a week or online up to 12 credits per semester. Courses are offered face-to-face in 5-week sessions at Luzerne County Community College on the Nanticoke Campus, or online in 7 1/2 week sessions.

Healthcare Administration Association (HAA)

Healthcare Administration majors are encouraged to become highly engaged in professional associations, in networking activities, and with university clubs. The Healthcare Administration Association (HAA) was formed primarily to expose students to the managerial and administrative aspects of the healthcare industry. The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) recognizes Misericordia University as one of its Higher Education Network (HEN) schools. Many of the HAA club members maintain student memberships to ACHE. ACHE is the nation’s premier professional organization for healthcare management and administration professionals and our students benefit from many of the programs that ACHE has to offer.

The HAA welcomes both undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing careers in clinical, managerial, or administrative levels of healthcare. The club meets monthly throughout the semester and is involved with fundraising, community service, networking, field trips, debates, and many other rewarding activities.

The MBA 5th-Year program is for eligible rising Misericordia University seniors who wish to begin their graduate business studies as an undergraduate student. Accepted students will take up to 12 MBA credits within their current program. An applicant may be required to complete leveling courses in business functional areas through Peregrine. The graduate admissions committee will determine if the leveling courses will be taken concurrently with MBA courses or completed prior to starting the MBA program.

MBA 5th Year Admission Requirements

At the end of the junior year, students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (if applying for the MBA 5th Year program).
Current juniors must submit a free online part-time graduate application at www.misericordia.edu/apply for the MBA program for the first graduate semester after which the bachelor's degree will be conferred.
Following the application evaluation by the Admissions Acceptance Committee, an acceptance decision will be rendered. If positive, then a conditional acceptance letter will be issued stipulating that the student must earn a 3.0 in each MBA course and in his/her bachelor's degree to be fully accepted upon graduation.
The acceptance letter will stipulate that the student is now eligible within his/her senior year to take up to 12 MBA credits.
Accepted students will work with his/her academic advisor as an undergraduate student to select appropriate MBA courses for the upcoming semester. Selected courses will be communicated to the Graduate Admissions representative so that the registration request can be submitted to the Registrar's office for processing.
After meeting all stated requirements and successfully earning his/her bachelor's degree, the student will work directly with the Graduate Admissions representative for the graduate business programs for his/her initial graduate semester advisement and registration. Once the student has been registered for the first graduate semester, a graduate academic advisor will be assigned to the student for future advisement.
An applicant may be required to complete leveling courses in business functional areas through Peregrine. The graduate admissions committee will determine if the leveling courses will be taken concurrently with MBA courses or completed prior to starting the MBA program.
