High Marks: Misericordia University Celebrates Exceptional NCLEX-RN Pass Rate

DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University students who recently graduated from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program (BSN) achieved a 97.4% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN examination for first-time test takers between Oct. 1, 2023 and Sept. 30, 2024. 

The NCLEX-RN examination is required for graduates of accredited nursing programs to obtain licensure and the ability to practice as an RN.  The test includes real-world case studies to measure a nurse's ability to critically think and make safe decisions regarding patient care. The examination is consistent with current entry-level practice and passing the exam ensures that nurses have the minimum ability required for safe and effective practice. 

It's an exciting time for nursing students at Misericordia University, as the third floor of Passan Hall was recently renovated. 

The renovation updated the current high-fidelity simulation "hospital" laboratory, simulation rooms and control room, and nursing classroom. New spaces were created for a low-fidelity space where students can learn and practice essential fundamental skills.

Virtual reality simulations have been added to the curriculum and will also occur in this laboratory. An additional classroom was created next to the original room to add student learning space.

There is a new Geriatric simulation room, with a brand new geriatric simulator. Additional geriatric simulation equipment is being purchased to ensure competent care of older adults.  There are study rooms and space to relax, with a nursing coffee bar, for students to enjoy and meet with their peers to study.

As the first BSN program in Northeastern PA, Misericordia University's Nursing Department has been educating students in the field of nursing and serving the healthcare needs of the community for over 75 years. Misericordia continues this tradition today by offering a wide variety of programs including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees.
