Misericordia Psychology and SLP Students Attend URC-PA Day at State Capitol
DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University students and faculty from the Psychology and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) departments participated in URC-PA Day at the State Capitol in Harrisburg, where they joined peers from across Pennsylvania to advocate for undergraduate research.
Olivia Olley and Amanda Prinzi, representing the SLP department, spent the day discussing healthcare resources and support for individuals with aphasia and their caregivers with state legislators. They also highlighted ongoing research and initiatives within the department and shared insight into the work being done in the SLP lab.
Emma Blakiewicz, a psychology major, and Peter Nelson, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor in the Psychology Department, presented a poster on their current study exploring priming-based language processing. The event offered a valuable opportunity for students to share their academic work while gaining experience in civic engagement and public advocacy.
