Misericordia SLP Students and Faculty Recognized with Top Honors at 2025 PSHA Convention
DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University's Speech-Language Pathology Department was honored for research excellence at the 2025 Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association (PSHA) Convention in Pittsburgh, where two student-faculty research posters received the Meritorious Poster Award. Out of more than 40 submissions statewide, only five were selected for this recognition - two of which came from Misericordia.
A team from the Fluency lab, led by Dr. Glen Tellis, was recognized for Virtual Reality in Speech Therapy: Transforming Treatment through Immersive Technology, with student contributors M. Aaron, A. Laukaitis, M. Roman, A. Robinson, and Dr. Tellis.
The second award-winning project, Student Experiences with AI in Clinical Practice: Surey and Case Studies, came from the department's CHAT Lab. The team incldued A. McCormick, D. Philippen, A. Atherton, A. Mosteller, A. Prinzi, M. Raub, H. Rivera, A. Rosenthal, L. Cimino, M. Alunni, Dr. Chitrali Mamlekar, K. Healey, and Dr. Tellis.
In addition to these top honors, students Alexandra Long and Michaela Raub presented original research projects developed through Misericordia's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program. Their participation helped highlight the strength of undergraduate research opportunities at Misericordia, offering a platform to share findings and engage with professionals across the state.
The recognition and visibility at PSHA reflect the department's commitment to advancing clinical knowledge and student-faculty collaboration in the field of speech-language pathology.
