Misericordia Students Participate in Pinwheel Event for Child Abuse Awareness
DALLAS, PA - April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and promoting efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect. Misericordia University students joined community members at the annual "Pinwheels for Prevention" child abuse awareness event in Dallas, thanks to an invitation from social work instructor Joanie Salla and the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center.
The powerful visual display featured 437 pinwheels, each one representing a child who courageously disclosed their abuse in Luzerne County in the past year. The event served as a moving reminder of the importance of awareness, advocacy, and continued support for children and families impacted by abuse.
The university is proud of the students who took part in this important event and recognizes the Social Work Department for its ongoing efforts in community outreach and social justice initiatives.
