Misericordia University Adds New Certified Financial Planning Specialization

Misericordia University, in a partnership with LCM Consortium and Rize Education, announced today it will be offering a certified financial planning (CFP) specialization to provide students with expertise in high-growth areas in which employers are searching for talent.

Certified Financial Planning Specialization

The new offering provides students specialized courses such as risk management and insurance planning, tax planning, and estate planning. Financial Advisors and Planners are accredited by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board), which ensures that advisors and planners meet strict educational, professional, and ethical requirements. A professional experience / apprenticeship is built into the curriculum, and students will also be prepared to sit for the certification exam.

"I believe students and parents will find that Misericordia is preserving all the aspects of the university that we love - the small campus, the liberal-arts education, the personalized attention. - while doubling down on the expected value of their education", said David B. Rehm, Ph.D. Vice President of Academic Affairs. "In this day-and-age, students and parents want to know what is going to land them a job. That’s the ultimate test.. The CFP specialization will meet that expectation by directing students to become Certified Financial Planners; ensuring the return on their investment.”

The CFP offering is certified by the CFP Board to meet all the educational requirements needed to sit for the CFP exam. Based on real-world projects, it's one of the most powerful financial skill sets on the market. Positions post-graduation include Financial Managers, Financial Sales, and Investment Specialists.
