Misericordia University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Sign Affiliation Agreement to Create 4+4 Medical Program Pathway

DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) have signed a new affiliation agreement that establishes a formal 4+4 program, creating a clear and structured pathway for Misericordia students to earn a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

Under the agreement, up to three highly qualified Misericordia students each year will be accepted into PCOM’s DO program after completing their undergraduate studies. Students will first complete four years at Misericordia University, earning a bachelor’s degree with a strong foundation in basic sciences, humanities, and social sciences. They will then enter PCOM for four additional years of medical education, culminating in the DO degree.

The agreement details admissions requirements, including minimum GPA and MCAT scores, completion of prerequisite coursework, and demonstrated commitment to osteopathic medicine. It also outlines a collaborative admissions process in which Misericordia will identify and advise qualified students starting in their sophomore year, ensuring they meet PCOM’s criteria.

Through this partnership, both institutions will coordinate recruitment, advising, and program promotion, with the goal of preparing students to become skilled, compassionate osteopathic physicians. The program underscores a shared commitment to academic excellence, student success, and improving access to medical education.

For more information about the 4+4 program, prospective students may contact Misericordia University’s Office of Academic Affairs at 570-674-6400.
