DALLAS, PA — Misericordia University has appointed Todd A. Shawver, DBA, CMA as dean of its College of Business, effective July 1, 2026. A proven academic leader with a strong track record in enrollment growth, program innovation, and student success, Shawver brings extensive experience in advancing business education aligned with workforce needs and institutional mission.

“Dr. Shawver brings a dynamic combination of strategic vision, academic leadership, and a deep commitment to student success,” said Misericordia University President Daniel J. Shawver joins Misericordia with more than two decades of experience in higher education and industry. He most recently served as dean of the Zeigler College of Business at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, where he led the college through the successful integration of multiple institutions while strengthening academic offerings and operations. Under his leadership, the college achieved sustained enrollment growth, improved student retention, and increased operational performance.

Throughout his career, Shawver has demonstrated a commitment to aligning business education with workforce needs. His work has strengthened partnerships across industry and the community, supporting economic development while creating meaningful, career-connected learning opportunities for students.

Prior to his role as dean, Shawver served as chairperson of the Department of Accounting and Business Law and as a professor of accounting. He has also held teaching appointments at Lafayette College, Lock Haven University, and Bloomsburg University, and brings additional professional experience from the private sector, including work in technology, consulting, and industry.

Shawver holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Business Administration from Plymouth State University, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from New England College. He is a Certified Management Accountant and a recipient of the 2022 University Sales Center Alliance Outstanding Dean of the Year award. His scholarship and professional contributions span accounting, ethics, data analytics, and higher education leadership, and he has been actively engaged in accreditation and professional service, including leadership roles within the Institute of Management Accountants.

A native of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Shawver currently resides in Wapwallopen.

“Misericordia is a place where values and vision intersect,” said Shawver. “I am honored to join a university grounded in the charisms of the Sisters of Mercy and look forward to building on the College of Business’s strong foundation. Together, we will create innovative, career-connected programs that prepare students to lead with both competence and conscience.”
