Misericordia University Celebrates Convocation and Welcomes the Class of 2030

Annual Tradition Unites University Community to Celebrate a New Academic Year and the Arrival of the Class of 2030

DALLAS, Pa. — Misericordia University welcomed the Class of 2030 to campus with the energy and anticipation of Move-In Day, followed by the University’s annual Convocation ceremony—an occasion that marks the beginning of each student’s academic journey and connection to the Misericordia community.

Families, faculty, staff and student volunteers filled campus as new students moved into their residence halls, met roommates and began settling into life at Misericordia. The day offered a first glimpse of the supportive, close-knit community that will accompany them throughout their college experience.

This year’s incoming class is Misericordia’s largest undergraduate first-year class to date.

The celebration continued at Convocation, where students gathered with University leaders, faculty and peers to reflect on the opportunities ahead and the values that define a Misericordia education: mercy, service, justice and hospitality.

Carmen Magistro served as the Convocation speaker, offering remarks to the Class of 2030 as they begin this new chapter. Magistro encouraged students to embrace both the challenges and possibilities of their time at Misericordia, build meaningful relationships and approach their experience with curiosity and purpose. During the ceremony, Magistro received the Mother Mary Catherine McGann Achievement Award.

For the Class of 2030, Move-In Day and Convocation marked more than the start of an academic year. Together, they represented the beginning of friendships, discovery, service and a shared commitment to making a difference.
