Misericordia University Cheer Team Excels at National Championship

DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University Cheerleading delivered an impressive showing at this year’s National Championship weekend in Orlando, Florida, competing in three events with five total performances and earning multiple top-five finishes, including a national bronze medal.

The Cougars captured third place in the Open All-Girl Performance Division. After competing Saturday and finishing in the top 10, the team advanced to Sunday’s final round. Their skill-based routine earned the bronze medal, finishing behind two collegiate programs from Mississippi.

The team’s Game Day Routine also earned a fourth-place finish at the National Championship. The routine, prepared and perfected throughout the season, showcased the program’s consistency and competitive strength.

Misericordia additionally competed at the International Cheer Union University World Cup Championship with its Game Day Routine. The event featured teams from Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The Cougars finished behind strong U.S. competitors including Temple University, Monmouth University, and Trevecca Nazarene University.

This championship weekend also marked a special first for the program, as it was the first year Archie attended the championship with the team. Choreographed into the Game Day Routine, Archie added a new layer of excitement and energy to the performance.

“Our athletes train for months to master the tumbling and stunting skills required of our competitive routines,” said head coach Tara Sinclair. “I am so extremely proud of how they represented our program at this year’s National Championship. Walking away with top-five finishes in all three events is rewarding, but witnessing the growth of our athletes and experiencing the team camaraderie is definitely the sweetest victory in all of this.”
