Misericordia University DPT Students Engage with Parents During Interactive Panel

DALLAS, PA - Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students at Misericordia University gained valuable insight into family-centered care during a parent panel held on April 13 in the DPT 864 course supervised by Dr. Maureen Rinehimer.

The panel featured parents who shared personal experiences about having children involved in medical treatments. Students were given the opportunity to hear directly from families about the challenges, emotions, and decisions they face throughout the healthcare process.

Designed as an interactive learning session, the panel allowed students to engage in meaningful dialogue, ask questions, and better understand the parent perspective. The event highlighted the importance of empathy, communication, and collaborative care in physical therapy practice.

The session is one of many experimental learning opportunities offered in the DPT program to help students prepare for patient-centered clinical work in a variety of settings.
