Certificate Program Prepares Imaging Professionals for Specialized Roles in Cancer Care 

DALLAS, Pa. — Radiologic technologists looking to expand their careers and make a deeper impact in cancer care have an opportunity to transition into the specialized field of radiation therapy through Misericordia University's 12-month online Radiation Therapy Certificate program. 

Designed for certified radiologic technologists, the certificate program builds on a student's existing American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration in radiography. Radiation therapists are responsible for accurately positioning patients, operating sophisticated treatment equipment, following strict radiation safety protocols, documenting treatments and providing support and reassurance throughout the patient's care journey. Because treatment often spans several weeks, therapists frequently develop lasting connections with the patients and families they serve. 

Radiologic technologists who are certified and registered through ARRT may be eligible to pursue radiation therapy through ARRT's primary certification pathway. Many professionals are drawn to the field because it offers:
