Misericordia University Occupational Therapy Faculty, Students Present Research at National Conference

National Conference Highlights Faculty-Student Collaboration and Scholarly Achievement

DALLAS, Pa. — Misericordia University occupational therapy faculty, students, and alumni showcased their scholarly work at the 2026 American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Annual Conference and Expo in Anaheim, California, presenting research and capstone projects that demonstrate the university's commitment to collaborative learning and evidence-based practice.

Four occupational therapy faculty members, along with several students and alumni, presented research and capstone project outcomes during the national conference, sharing innovative work with occupational therapy educators, researchers, clinicians, and students from across the country.

The presentations highlighted the collaborative approach that defines Misericordia's occupational therapy programs, where faculty mentor students throughout the research and capstone process, providing opportunities to contribute to the profession while gaining valuable experience presenting at a national conference.

In addition to the research presentations, Dr. Orley Templeton, Ellen McLaughlin, and Lori Charney attended the Academic Leadership Council meetings held prior to the conference. The council brings together occupational therapy program directors from across the nation to discuss emerging trends, best practices, accreditation, and the future of occupational therapy education.

The conference also brought national recognition to Misericordia when Ellen McLaughlin received an AOTA Service Commendation Award, which recognizes individuals for their outstanding service and contributions to the occupational therapy profession.
