Misericordia University Students Volunteer at Allstar Abilities: Sports Camp

DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University students recently volunteered their time and skills at the Allstar Abilities: Sports Camp, an adaptive sports program designed for children with disabilities.

The camp was created as part of a doctoral capstone project by Dallas Engel, OTS, CARSS, with Dr. Cheryl Jayne serving as faculty mentor and Charles Edkins as site mentor. The program offered nine campers, ages 9–11, the opportunity to learn and play a variety of sports in an inclusive, supportive environment. By participating alongside their peers with guided assistance, campers built sports skills and social connections.

Misericordia student volunteers included: Annika Massa, Maggie Duda, Averi Kline, Riley Huch, Madison Hushon, Mia Hoopes, Ava Rockey, Ella Farrer, Rachel Ulrich, Gavin Morris, Hayden Dallam, Ava Cirigliano, Emily Romanowski, Grace Zywiczynski, and Colton Swanson.

Through programs like this, Misericordia University's Occupational Therapy Department continues its commitment to fostering compassionate care and promoting community inclusion for individuals of all abilities.
