Misericordia University’s Center for Adult and Continuing Education (CACE) is holding its second virtual session as part of their 53rd Annual Dr. Marie Noël Keller, RSM Institute on Sacred Scripture: The Joy of Scripture Webinar Series featuring guest speaker, Rev. Bonnie Thurston, Ph.D.

The Dr. Marie Noël Keller, RSM Institute on Sacred Scripture event relates to those of all educational backgrounds with the simplicity and elegance of the scriptures themselves. Bringing inspirational and thought-provoking scripture directly to the participants – in the comfort of their surroundings.

Rev. Bonnie Thurston, Ph.D. Bonnie Thurston resigned a Chair and Professorship in New Testament to live quietly in her home state, West Virginia. She is author or editor of 23 theological works and seven collections of her poetry. She gave the Dom Helder Camara Lecture at the University of Melbourne and Marian lectures at three branches of the Australian Catholic University in 2019. An internationally known Thomas Merton scholar, her book Shaped by the End You Live for: Thomas Merton's Monastic Spirituality was published by Liturgical Press, 2020. Other recent books include Saint Mary of Egypt: A Modern Verse Life and Interpretation (Liturgical Press, 2021), Pondering, Praying, Preaching Romans 8 (SLG Press, 2021), and Not Sonnets: Observations from an Ordinary Life (Cinnamon Press, 2022). Bonnie is an avid reader, walker, gardener, cook, and classical music lover.

The Second Session is Janus-Faced, John: The Baptist as Hinge of Christian Scripture with Rev. Bonnie Thurston, Ph.D. running on Tuesday evenings October 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Eastern Time. Topics include Introduction to John, Jesus and Geography, John’s Origins Luke 1:5-25, 57-80, John’s Preaching in Luke and Mathew Luke 3:1-20; Matthew 3:1-12, John or Jesus? And the Death of John.
