Misericordia University’s Katherine Pohlidal Attends Robin Hood Foundation’s Mobility LABs Convening in New York City

Katherine Pohlidal, Director of the Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program, and Gretchen Hunt, Director of Nutrition Programs for the Commission for Economic Opportunity

DALLAS, PA - Katherine Pohlidal, Director of the Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program at Misericordia University, recently participated in the Robin Hood Foundations's Mobility LABs Learning and Action Bets Convening in New York City. The event brought together leaders from across the country to celebrate and advance innovative, community-driven solutions aimed at lifting families out of poverty.

Launched in 2018, Robin Hood's Moblity LABs is a national initiative that collaborates with organizations in nine communities to create sustainable pathways for economic mobility. Pohlidal has played a pivotal role in this effort as a lead developer for the Northeastern Pennsylvania region, working alongside the anchor partner, The Commission for Economic Opportunity. This collaboration has focused on developing innovative solutions to enhance economic opportunities for families in the region.

A significant milestone of the initiative was the launch of the Parent Pathways of Northeastern Pennsylvania program at Misericordia University in 2022. This program established a network of educational and service organizations dedicated to supporting parents in poverty by providing access to education and career pathways. As the program continues to grow, this year's convening recognized its success and positive impact on the region.

Misericordia University remains a proud partner of Parent Pathways of Northeastern Pennsylvania, further strengthening its commitment to student parents through the addition of an on-campus Parent Pathways Coordinator, Kristi Lyons. This role is designed to provide dedicated support and resources to student parents pursuing their education at the university.
