Misericordia’s Autism Center Celebrates Graduation of SAFE Swim Program

Misericordia University and Supporting Autism and Families Everywhere Inc. (SAFE) recently celebrated the graduation of the most recent class of SAFE Swim.

On April 22, 2023, the class joined at the pool in the Anderson Sports and Wellness Center to celebrate the graduates of the SAFE Swim program. In the partnership, swimming lessons are provided to children and adults on the autism spectrum. The program is funded by a grant from the AllOne Foundation and staffed by the Misericordia Swim Team Coach Alexander Taylor and students from the Misericordia University Swim Team. The SAFE Swim program provides much-needed water safety and swimming skills to help prevent accidental drownings, which are the leading cause of death for children on the autism spectrum.
