Misericordia’s David A. Evans Color Run Honors Legacy and Promotes Suicide Awareness

Dallas, PA — Misericordia University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members gathered on campus Sunday, November 2, 2025, for the annual David A. Evans Color Run, a 5K event honoring the memory of David Evans, Jr. and raising awareness around suicide prevention. The run, held on the Misericordia campus, invited participants of all ages to celebrate life, wellness, and community with a family-friendly color run and walk.

Sponsored by the Misericordia Student Occupational Therapy Association (MSOTA) and the New Student & Family Programs office, the event supports the David A. Evans, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund at Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where Evans was a student. The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors who choose to enroll at Misericordia University, helping to make a Mercy education more accessible while keeping Evans’ legacy alive.

The morning featured a festive race course filled with bursts of color, along with raffle baskets donated by MU clubs, campus organizations, and local businesses. Local agencies joined the event in support of suicide awareness, creating a strong sense of solidarity among participants from campus and the broader community.

Misericordia University extends its gratitude to all runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors whose generosity and spirit helped make this year’s color run a meaningful tribute and a powerful expression of the University’s commitment to compassion, service, and mental health awareness.
