Monro Named Winter Commencement Valedictorian

Alexa Monro of Kinnelon, NJ was named the Valedictorian of the Misericordia University 10th winter commencement ceremony, held on Sunday, December 19, at the university's Anderson Sports and Health Center on the scenic campus in Dallas, Pa. The ceremony celebrated the academic accomplishments of 322 students from 16 different states. 

Monro, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, graduated summa cum laude with a GPA of 4.0. During her career at Misericordia, Monro was a member of the university's NCAA Division III women's volleyball and golf teams; served as president of the Business Professionals Association; was a member of the business honor society Sigma Beta Delta, and a member of the Honors Program. In addition, Monro was a Sister Mary Glennon Scholar and a peer tutor for the Student Success Center. She participated in an international study abroad program at St. Mary's University in Twickenham, London.

Monro is currently working as a cast member in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. In the fall, she will attend Villanova Law School. She is a 2018 graduate of Kinnelon High School and the daughter of Jodi and Scott Monro and has a brother, Taylor.
