Professional Development

Misericordia University recently announced the addition of a new suite of online, non-credit certificate programs as another learning option for individuals looking for professional development to advance their careers or seek new employment opportunities.  The non-credit certificates will allow individuals who do not seek a degree to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Offered through the Center for Adult and Continuing Education, fourteen self-paced certificate programs ranging in areas of business, leadership, and marketing are currently available. The self-paced nature of the program gives individuals the opportunity to complete a certificate in as little as a few weeks.  In addition to earning the certificate, individuals also receive a digital badge, which is a visual representation of skills learned.   Badges earned can be stacked with previously earned badges to enhance an online resume by documenting learning so that students can plan, track, and share their accomplishments in a secure and verifiable way.

Misericordia University has been educating adult learners since opening its doors in 1924.   As trends in education change, so does Misericordia.  For over 15 years, quality online degree programs have been available to adult learners who needed to further their education in convenient formats that fit their schedule.  The addition of these non-credit certificates will enhance programs and formats currently offered and provide learners with an alternative to a degree program.

" Individuals and companies have been significantly impacted by COVID-19.  Many have lost their jobs when employers were forced to cut back or close altogether. Individuals have found themselves in need of learning new skills now to increase their marketability in the workforce.  With the new non-credit certificates offered, we give individuals this opportunity   in a convenient online format at an affordable price from a distinguished university who has been serving adult learners for many decades”." said Paul Nardone, Director of the Center for Adult and Continuing Education.

The price per certificate program varies with pricing incentives in place for Misericordia alumni, veterans, and individuals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
