The Misericordia University Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program (WWC) has been recognized by the NASPA Adult Learners and Students with Children Knowledge Community as the Annual Outstanding Undergraduate Student Parent Program.

This award is designed to highlight the fantastic work supporting adult learners.  According to Dr. Anita Hicks, ALSC KC Chair, “we feel that Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program exemplifies how to support a growing student population that often requires a unique type of assistance. The numerous resources provided at Misericordia University, including: Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program (WCC) and other efforts provides an outstanding model that other universities can learn from.”

Program Director, Katherine Pohlidal, will be honored during a virtual reception on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via ZOOM. The ALSC recognizes the importance of family in the educational experience and plans to highlight Misericordia’s program in their upcoming newsletters.

The Adult Learners and Student with Children Knowledge Community is a group within NASPA - the leading professional association in student affairs. NASPA has over 15,000 members. The Adult Learners and Students with Children Knowledge Community aims to share information with student affairs practitioners and thus improve support services while highlighting the magnificent stories of this unique student population.
