The Highlander Wins Big at 2025 Keystone Awards

DALLAS, PA - Misericordia University's student newspaper, The Highlander, added to its legacy of excellence with two first-place finishes at the 2025 Pennsylvania News Media Keystone Awards—the first time in the publication's history that it earned multiple top honors in a single year.

Matthew Warren, Editor-in-Chief, received first place for "Best Ongoing News Coverage" for his series of articles examining the 2024 presidential election and the campus voting dropbox at Passan Hall. Paloma Parreno, Web Editor, earned first place in the "Best Feature Photo" category for her compelling image featured in The Highlander

While the awards recognize individual achievements, they reflect the collaborative spirit of The Highlander team. Each issue is a product of dedicated teamwork among student reporters, editors, and photographers.
