U.S. News & World Report ranks Misericordia University among other nationally known universities in 2024 rankings
Misericordia University (MU) was again ranked in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2024 rankings, tied for #227 in overall rank nationally with other well-known universities such as Georgia State University, Kent State University, and the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
Misericordia was ranked #198 nationally for "Top Performers in Social Mobility," tied with Duke University and Old Dominion University, among others.
Its undergraduate nursing program moved up 56 points from last year, ranked at #472 nationally. Misericordia tied with several other institutions in this category, including Miami University at Hamilton and Mid-American Nazarene University.
U.S. News & World Report announced earlier this year it was changing the methodology of its rankings to emphasize the success of diverse students and to remove the influence of alumni giving and class size. The 2024 Best Colleges rankings feature more emphasis on a school's "success in graduating students from different backgrounds," the company said in a statement.
They also removed metrics on alumni giving, class size, and high school standing of the entering class, as well as faculty with the highest degrees in their field. Since its founding 40 years ago, U.S. News has repeatedly made changes to its rankings methodology.
