White Coat Ceremony Recognizes Misericordia University Nursing Students

WhiteCoatCeremony

DALLAS, PA - The Department of Nursing at Misericordia University recently held the Arnold P. Gold-AACN White Coat Ceremony for Nursing.

29 students in the Traditional Nursing Class of 2027 and seven Part-Time Evening Nursing students in the Class of 2026 were cloaked.

The White Coat Ceremony is designed as a rite of passage to emphasize the importance of compassionate patient care at the very start of training. In addition to reciting the oath, students come forward during the ceremony to be “cloaked” before family and friends in the iconic white coat that signifies their status as healthcare professionals.

John W. Mullen, R.N., A.D.N., P.H.R.N., C.F.R.N., a registered nurse in a cardiac intensive care unit, delivered the keynote address. Mullen began his career as an orderly and then continued his education in nursing by becoming an LPN then an RN.
