Admissions Requirements

Successful freshman applicants to Misericordia University's Nursing program will typically have a minimum high school average of 80 or higher (2.8 GPA) and a combined SAT score of 960 (math and critical reading) for students who took the SAT prior to March 5, 2016, or 1040 for students who took the SAT after March 5, 2016; in lieu of the SAT, ACT results may also be presented reflecting a minimum 21 ACT composite score. They will also have a "B" or above in science and mathematics courses which should include 1 year of high school chemistry, biology, and math (including 1 semester of algebra).

Please note the above listed requirements are general, and that each application is looked at thoroughly, taking into account individual grades, academic rigor, and other factors.

While the RN to BSN program is predominately online, expectations for on-campus student participation are adjustable based on student needs. Student requirements should be discussed with program directors on an individual basis.

To be eligible for our ABSN program, you must have at least 60 credits from a regionally accredited institution, complete all prerequisite courses, and meet the GPA requirements.

BSN to DNP

To qualify for admission into our online DNP program, you must have:

• A BSN from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.25
• Unencumbered registered nurse license

MSN to DNP

To qualify for admission into our online DNP program, you must have:

• An MSN from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.00**
• Unencumbered registered nurse license and APRN certification*

*APRN credentials in one of four: Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
**Master’s in Nursing must be as a nurse practitioner, certified registered nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist, or certified nurse midwife.

You must also provide the following:

• Online application
• Official transcripts of all previous college work, including graduate and undergraduate
• Resume or curriculum vitae
• Two letters of reference
• Statement of personal and professional goals
• Evidence of National Board Certification in an APRN specialty (MSN to DNP only)

Online MSN

To qualify for admission into our online MSN program, you must have:

• A BSN from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.00
• Unencumbered registered nurse license

You must also provide the following:

• Two letters of reference
• Statement of personal and professional goals
