Nursing Accelerated BSN (ABSN)

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The program is delivered in a hybrid format and can be completed in 16 months (four semesters, 54 credits). Lab sessions are held in person on weekends at our Dallas, Pennsylvania campus, and clinical placements take place within a 60-mile radius at respected healthcare facilities.

Program overview


The ABSN program begins every January with a new cohort. Students entering the cohort must have all prerequisites completed by the start of the cohort. Students not holding a prior bachelor’s degree must complete non-Nursing requirements such as core curriculum courses prior to cohort entry. Students may enter the program at the pre-cohort level in any of three terms: Fall, Spring or Summer. Misericordia’s transfer coordinator and Nursing advisor will work with all prerequisite and non-degree students to plan a progression into an upcoming cohort.

After completing the online form on our website, one of our admissions counselors will schedule a call or a meeting to discuss your academic qualifications and professional goals. During this conversation, your counselor can also answer any questions you have about our program and help you determine if it’s a good match for you.

Apply to the ABSN Program

Complete the ABSN program application online, making sure to submit:

  • Your online application to Misericordia University.
  • Your official transcripts from each regionally accredited school you’ve attended.

Please note that while our Nursing Department doesn’t charge an application fee, you are required to pay for a drug test, a background check, immunizations, and other related health screenings prior to entering the ABSN program.

Complete the Prerequisites

While you don’t need any prior experience working in health care or nursing to apply, you do need to meet our academic requirements. Register for and take all the necessary prerequisite courses, passing with a grade of “C” or higher.
