Accelerated BSN Clinical Placements

Clinical practice is the hallmark of any quality nursing education. As a Misericordia University Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) student, you can expect to gain meaningful nursing experience through clinical placements within the Allegheny Health Network and other health care facilities throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.

Working alongside a small group of peers and experienced nurses, you’ll have the opportunity to put the holistic nursing practices you learn from your online coursework and in-person skills labs to work in the real world.

Clinical Practice Areas

During our 16-month program, you’ll complete clinical practice hours to meet or exceed the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing requirements. Working alongside experienced nurses and other members of multidisciplinary health care teams, you’ll gain invaluable, real-world patient care experience in diverse specialty areas such as:

• Adult health
• Community health
• Mental health
• Obstetrics
• Pediatrics

The Clinical Experience

While the location of your accelerated nursing clinicals may vary, this key component of your accelerated nursing education is designed to help you embody the heart of mercy — that is, understand the importance of providing ethical, safe, and humanistic care in a rapidly expanding health care system.

As you participate in your clinical rotations, you’ll learn the importance of holistic healing as nurses, as well as how to:

• Develop confidence in nursing theory and skills, and put them into practice safely.
• Understand how to provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care.
• Work as a team player in a multifaceted, advanced health care setting.
