The College of Health Sciences at Misericordia University is holding its inaugural Health Sciences Interprofessional Middle School Career Camp on campus from Aug. 10-14 for students entering 6-8th grades. The camp is held daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students who have an interest in the health and medical science fields can come to Misericordia University and experience life on a college campus, and speak to students and faculty in their fields of interest. They will also be able to gain firsthand experience exploring innovative technologies that enable college students to test their clinical skills on a SimBaby and SimMan in simulation laboratories; mastering basic human anatomy, neurology and physiology with the Anatomage virtual dissection table; using their knowledge to help develop treatment plans from actual therapy case studies, and by using equipment specialized to each area of practice.
Misericordia University features medical imaging, nursing, occupational therapy, physician's assistant, physical therapy, sonography, and speech-language pathology in the health and medical science fields, as well as pre-med, pre-optometry, pre-veterinary options and other health science related fields.
Students will gain an understanding of the many health science fields and how they are similar and different. More importantly, they will gain an understanding of the fields of study and learn about the different career paths available to them as they begin to chart their own futures.
