The Misericordia University Department of Mass Communications and Design hosted 75 high school students at Media Immersion Day on campus. The interactive program was designed for students interested in learning about and gaining hands-on experience in graphic design, video production and editing, photojournalism, and newspaper writing and reporting.
Participants had an opportunity to practice with a camera in the Misericordia University television studio, and meet with staff members of The Highlander student newspaper, MCN87 student-run television station, Cougar Radio, and Service By Design, the student-run marketing and design firm.
Students from Honesdale High School, Jim Thorpe Area High School, Crestwood High School, Lackawanna Trail High School, and Dallas Senior High School participated in the program.
Media Immersion Day concluded with a luncheon and panel discussion about careers in mass media, featuring alumni of Misericordia University who are seasoned communications and media relations professionals in northeastern Pennsylvania.
