The Department of Social Work at Misericordia University held a pinning ceremony for seniors and inducted students into the university's Epsilon Chapter of the Alpha Delta Mu National Social Work Honor Society during a recent program in the Catherine Evans McGowan Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library.

Social work students Christina DeMeo, Old Forge; Carly Kandel, Newton, New Jersey; Brianna Smith, West Nanticoke; Christine Ward, Sayville, N.Y., and Deanna Warren, Nicholson, were inducted into the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Mu.

The pinning ceremony honored seniors who will earn their bachelor's degrees at the University's 92nd annual commencement ceremony on May 12. Honorees included DeMeo, Kandel, Olivia Mayorowski, Old Forge, and Julianna Stella, West Wyoming.

With the motto, "Advocate for the People," the honor society's purpose is to encourage and recognize superior scholarship in social work education and to advance excellence in social work practice. To be eligible for chapter membership, a student must be a social work or social welfare major in a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Undergraduate members must achieve at least junior standing, complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at Misericordia, hold a 3.25 or better grade point average, and have recommendations from at least two social work faculty members.
